Pride Month, young people, and why every story deserves space

Pride Month is about people, not perfection
June always feels like a moment to slow down and really think about people. Pride Month is often seen as a celebration, which it absolutely is, but for me it is also about something quieter. It is about young people who are still trying to understand who they are, how they feel, and where they fit in the world.
Some are exploring their gender or sexuality. Some are rebuilding confidence after setbacks. Some are simply trying to find their first real opportunity in life. Whatever their journey looks like, they deserve respect, patience, and space to grow without judgement.
That idea is at the centre of everything we do at Miss Macaroon in Birmingham.
Why Miss Macaroon exists in Birmingham
Miss Macaroon was created as a social enterprise with a very simple purpose. To use beautifully made food to create real opportunities for young people who need support to get into work.
What makes it different is that 100 percent of profits go directly back into helping young people through our MacsMAD programme, giving training, structure, and confidence to help them move forward into employment.
What support looks like day to day
I get to meet so many lovely people who come into the store, and I also support trainees during their work placements with us, so I see the positive impact that encouragement and opportunity can have on people's confidence and development. Sometimes it is small things that make the biggest difference. A conversation that makes someone feel seen. A shift where they realise they can do it. A moment where they start to believe in themselves.
For me, that is what meaningful change looks like. Not just talking about support, but building something that actually creates it in real time.
Pride, inclusion and young people finding their way
Pride Month feels closely connected to this work because it is ultimately about inclusion. It is about reminding people that they are valid, regardless of gender, sexuality, background, or where they are starting from in life.
At Miss Macaroon, we see young people from all walks of life. Some arrive unsure and quiet. Some arrive guarded. Over time, with support, they grow into themselves. That process is what matters most.
Everyone deserves that chance to grow without pressure to fit into a box.
A limited edition way to celebrate Pride
We also mark Pride Month with something joyful and colourful.
Our limited edition Pride macaron collection is available throughout June, created to celebrate inclusion and community in a simple, thoughtful way. It is a small gesture, but one that reflects something bigger. The idea that celebration and purpose can exist together.

Corporate branded macaroons for events and gifting
Miss Macaroon also offers branded macaroons and business gift boxes, which makes
them a strong option for summer parties that are tied to company events, launches, or
client entertaining. The business gifts page explains that they work with public relations
and event management companies looking for a themed sweet treat, and that
customers can have a logo printed onto one or all of the macaroons. The gift boxes
come in three sizes, with options starting at 7 and going up to 14 and 21 macarons, so
there is something for smaller thank you gifts as well as bigger event giveaways. They
also offer Pantone matched macaroons, with colours tailored to corporate branding, and
the site says they are the only patisserie in the world that can Pantone match exactly to
brand colours
Conclusion
If there is one thing I hope Pride Month reminds us, it is that every person deserves space to figure out who they are without fear or judgement.
Whether that is a young person taking their first steps into work, or someone finally feeling comfortable in their identity, the need is the same. Support, kindness, and opportunity.
At Miss Macaroon, that is what we try to build every day in Birmingham.
