Miss Macaroon’s MacsMAD (Macaroons that Make A Difference) training courses enable long-term unemployed young people to build their confidence and skills to become work ready.

We train small groups of individuals aged 18 to 35 and tailor each ten week course to address their personal barriers to employment. We understand how to be successful in a workplace and use Miss Macaroon’s production kitchen or macaroon and Prosecco bar to practice these skills.

To inspire and motivate the trainees, they hear from peer mentors who are MacsMAD graduates with jobs.  A local luxury hotel partner hosts the trainees for a tour and introduction to the Head Chef, building their aspirations and network.

One to one mentoring provides support throughout the course, during follow on work experience and into employment for up to six months. MacsMAD trainees leave the course with their five year plan, up to date CV, extensive interview practice, industry contacts and help to apply for jobs.

Social Enterprise

At Miss Macaroon we hold the aims and objectives of a true social enterprise business close to our hearts.

A social enterprise is a business that trades for a social and/or environmental purpose. It will have a clear sense of its ‘social mission’, which means it will know what difference it is trying to make, who it aims to help, and how it plans to do it. It will bring in most or all of its income through selling goods or services with clear rules about what it does with its profits, reinvesting these to further its ‘social mission’.

Social enterprises come in many shapes and sizes from large national and international businesses to small community based enterprises, but they are all:

  • Businesses that aim to generate their income by selling goods and services, rather than through grants and donations
  • Set up specifically to make a difference
  • Reinvests its profits in its social mission

Our mission is clear: To improve the lives of young people in our community by providing moments of sublime indulgence to our customers

Macaroons That Make a Difference

The Macaroons That Make a Difference programme is our 10 week course for 18 – 35 year olds who are long term unemployed in the Midlands. Trainees on our MacsMAD Catering course spend five weeks in our training kitchen learning the skills to enter a professional workplace. They then graduate up to our production kitchen and learn alongside professional Chefs. They’re supported by the programme leader, work buddy, psychotherapist and counsellor and have a mentor for six months after the course ends. MacsMAD enables trainees to build their confidence, achieve greater independence and access career opportunities.

The MacsMAD programme is generously funded by all Miss Macaroon customers.
