SpaceX has revealed that Tesla’s car launch was celebrated with macaroons, created by Birmingham’s best social enterprise Miss Macaroon.
The launch took place on 6th February, where a Tesla Roadster was launched into orbit. The car was at a speed of 18,000 mph, cruising around Earth. It was driven by a dummy in a spacesuit that Musk called “Starman”. The launch also concided with the successful launch of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket from Cape Canaveral station in Florida, USA.
Miss Macaroon partnered with Tesla to celebrate with a macaroon. Starman can also be seen in the car enjoying Birmingham’s best macaroon, while heading to orbit in Mars.
Miss Macaroon is also working with Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla. The partnership could see gluten-free macaroons being sent to Mars as early as 2019.
In a recent interview, Musk commented, “I think we’ll be able to do short flights, up and down flights, some time in the first half of next year. We need to get to Mars before World War 3 starts.”
Miss Macaroon will bake macaroons to determine its shelf life on Mars, similarly to humans. Part of the mission will involve sending macaroons to be tested in an experiment facility overseas. However, SpaceX and Miss Macaroon are looking out for food businesses to take part in the experiment.
