MISS MACAROON – WMCA’S LEADERSHIP COMMISSION
Share
Leadership Commission
The West Midlands’s Combined Authority’s Leadership commission has examined why the wider leadership of our region is not more representative of the people it serves. It has now reported on it’s findings.
A wide-ranging academic piece of work has taken place to scrutinise and improve diversity in the leadership of the region, recommending a number of actions. The political leadership of the wider WMCA has come under scrutiny for its own composition. Other organisations also need to reflect the diversity of the region at the highest levels. The commission’s report will now see a number of actions implemented, including working with business to develop inclusive leaders and changing recruitment policies.
Miss Macaroon’s Involvement
Miss Macaroon’s founder Rosie Ginday was invited to join the Leadership Commission Panel to conduct focus groups with small and medium sized businesses and social enterprises.
Recommendations
On the basis of the evidence collated through the research, the West Midlands Leadership Commission is making a number of recommendations for the WMCA and its partner organisations under five themes:
1. Inclusive leadership to drive inclusive growth
2. Working in partnership with business to develop inclusive leadership
3. A step change in recruitment and human resource development
4. Combatting the evaluation and learning deficit
5. A route map for the next generation.
