Miss Macaroon’s Kickstart Stories

As part of Miss Macaroon’s directive to bake a brighter future, eight new candidates have started as Marketing Assistants. This is part of the Government funded Kickstart initiative, offering unemployed young people six month placements where they can develop their skills and gain professional experience. So, what does the placement offer? How are the Marketing Assistants finding life at Miss Macaroon so far? And what are their plans for the future? Read below to find out more.

Miss Macaroon as a Kickstart gateway:

As a Kickstart gateway, Miss Macaroon helps other businesses with their initial Kickstart applications, as they recruit Kickstart workers and offer support in terms of their training and development.

Miss Macaroon CEO, Rosie Ginday:

‘It’s been fantastic working with such talented and motivated young people. We’ve spent six days inducting our first cohorts onto the Kickstart programme and they’ve benefited from expert talks from a Content Director and award winning Marketing Apprentice turned Marketing Executive. In such a short space the Kickstart team have learnt so much and are already working on live projects’.

Our Miss Macaroon Kickstart cohort:

‘The Miss Macaroon Kickstart scheme has been a blessing to me! It has allowed me to work as well as gain new skills – not just marketing but all areas of the business. I can’t wait to progress and see where the next 6 months take me. Also – I love their Gluten-free macaroons. They’re so good’.

– Hattie, Kickstart Marketing Assistant.

‘I’m grateful for the opportunity presented to me by Miss Macaroon. So far, I’ve learned how to pursue different marketing strategies online. It’s been a confidence booster and a great way to add a few skills to my CV. I’ve been applying for jobs for over six months, and Miss Macaroon has been the first company to give me a chance. As a whole, I’m a fan of their inclusivity – it was a pleasant surprise to see that they sell halal macaroons!’

I’m looking forward to adding to my skill set. Hopefully, after my contract has ended, I can use these skills to work on my own ventures. I’m particularly interested in how the skills I’ve picked up translate into the wider marketing sphere’.

– Ibrahim, Kickstart Marketing Assistant.

‘The role at Miss Macaroon is a fantastic opportunity to have picked up in these uncertain times. From my first week I have learnt so much and built confidence in areas I never even knew existed. I highly recommend this program for anyone wanting to gain in-depth experience in marketing. My hopes for the future is to market and manage a skincare or fashion company in a few years. I hope the skills and portfolio built from these 6 months helps me achieve that goal’.

Miss Macaroon has given me a chance when so many haven’t’.

– Ryan, Kickstart Marketing Assistant.

‘Miss Macaroon is a great place for younger, less experienced people to learn and improve their talents. The staff and managers are hardworking and ensure that you always perform to the best of your abilities.

I hope that I can give 110% for all future work, and improve my skills overall. My hopes for the future is to join a company related to gaming and hopefully become a marketing advisor for them. Miss Macaroon has helped me in this goal by allowing me to improve and develop my skills on how to approach and develop existing/new customers overall. Miss Macaroon has definitely had a very positive impact on my confidence and helped me to learn a lot about myself’.

– Ferdous, Kickstart Marketing Assistant.

‘My experience so far at Miss Macaroon has been great! I am excited for the future to develop my graphic design skills further as well as my technical skills to a comfortable level. After the course I’d like to be able to go into a marketing position with confidence in all of the requisite skills’.

– Jordan, Kickstart Marketing Assistant.

‘Miss Macaroon has already helped me to develop skills and interests in things I had never considered before. I truly believe that by the end of my time with them, I’ll have the drive, knowledge and confidence needed to set up my own business!’

– Nainah, Kickstart Marketing Assistant.

‘Miss Macaroon has allowed me to grow confidence in my professionalism and be given responsibility I wouldn’t have been given so early on in other jobs’.

– Heléna, Kickstart Marketing Assistant.

‘I graduated feeling lost and overwhelmed. I’ve been applying for any job over the past 8 months. I’ve heard nothing. No company has given me a chance nor any guidance until this Kickstarter scheme at Miss Macaroon. My confidence has improved so far and I feel like I’m on the right career path. My goals for this kickstart opportunity are to be able to get used to work in a professional atmosphere and feel confident to be working in the marketing industry’.

– Shannon, Kickstart Marketing Assistant.
