Miss Macaroon meets Birmingham’s budding businesses
Share
On Thursday 25th May, Miss Macaroon had the pleasure of welcoming thirteen Midlands-based entrepreneurs to our store in the Great Western Arcade for a small business networking event. The meet-up was hosted by Enterprise Nation, made up of a community of over 72,000 people, which aims to support business owners throughout their entrepreneurial journeys.
It was a great opportunity for Miss Macaroon to meet budding entrepreneurs interested in starting out in the world of enterprise, as well as motivated professionals dedicated to help small businesses flourish.
Our team members Elysha, Ocia and Francesca each presented themselves and Miss Macaroon to the attendees, who were all curious to hear about our short but impactful history. From Rosie’s beginnings in Michelin-star kitchens to Ocia’s inspiring journey benefiting from our training scheme to become our full-time retail team member, we were not short on stories to share.
Some of the Enterprise Nation members we met included Gwyneth Box, co-founder of creative digital and print agency Tantamount, and Paul Clarke who manages social media at Narzipan, an up-and-coming streetwear brand.
Birmingham is going through an exciting period of economic growth, to which small businesses contribute significantly: in 2010, Birmingham was the home to more than 900,000 start-ups. These networking events offer a valuable and unique opportunity for business owners to connect with each other and discover new opportunities and ideas. This is not only beneficial to business development, but is also a well-deserved break. Working on a start-up project can often be an isolating experience for some, and the support offered by networks such as Enterprise Nation can make a real difference. As helping our local community is embedded in Miss Macaroon’s core values, we were more than happy to support and contribute to the growth of small businesses in our region by hosting this meet-up.
Our shop is based in the Great Western Arcade in Birmingham City Centre, which is also home to a number of small, independent businesses. Our casual, relaxing environment makes Miss Macaroon a great choice for networking events, business launch parties, or celebrating success with a glass of prosecco.
