Turning delicate confections into youth employment opportunities
For over 11 years Miss Macaroon has dedicated itself to providing opportunities for young people who’ve struggled to find employment. The team at BBC Midlands Today came to visit last week to see the impact of this practice firsthand.
Audrey Dias spoke with our founder, Rosie Ginday MBE, as well as a couple of employees who’ve been through the MacsMAD programme to find out exactly how the programme has helped people.

My experience as a MacsMAD Graduate.
As someone who has been through the MacsMAD programme, I can say with full sincerity that this programme has truly changed my life for the better. Now working at Miss Macaroon, I have so much more confidence than I did just a few months ago.
The programme is only 8 weeks long but in that time trainees are taught so much including how to improve their CV, how to conduct themselves in an interview on top of being given work experience and achieving qualifications in food hygiene.
Graduation Day.
At the end of my time as a MacsMAD trainee, Miss Macaroon organized a graduation day for us, similar to what we might have experienced in university. Many of those on the programme never went on to higher education so this was done in order to celebrate and give us all a sense of accomplishment. Speaking personally, it truly meant more than I can put into words, I felt like my efforts were appreciated and I had really achieved something.
