The Fairer Futures Programme was born out of a shared commitment between Miss Macaroon and The Midcounties Co-operative to address the pressing issue of youth unemployment. At its core, the Fairer Futures Programme is about creating opportunities for individuals who may have been overlooked or marginalised by traditional employment pathways. By providing tailored support and access to valuable resources, we aim to level the playing field and open doors to meaningful employment opportunities. Our ultimate goal is to empower young people to thrive, contribute to their communities, and build fulfilling careers.

The Quiet Room 🤫

Our quiet room serves as a sanctuary for reflection and support. Led by our compassionate counsellor, weekly sessions cover essential topics like coping with loss and change, practising self-care, understanding healthy eating habits, and fostering positive relationships. Trainees have the opportunity for one-on-one discussions, ensuring they feel heard and valued, both personally and within the programme.

The Training Room 📚

Central to our programme is the training room, where trainees spend a significant portion of their journey. Here, they delve into essential topics such as workplace success strategies, health and safety protocols, job search techniques, interview preparation, customer service etiquette, and teamwork skills. These foundational lessons not only equip them for their work placements but also instil confidence and responsibility, shaping them into well-rounded individuals ready to tackle any challenge.

Work Placement and Beyond 🚀

Following their training, our trainees embark on work placements, gaining invaluable real-world experience and putting their newfound skills into practice. With the support of our dedicated programme leaders, Rachel and Amina, trainees receive guidance and mentorship throughout their placements, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.
