Miss Macaroon opens Birmingham’s first macaroon and Prosecco bar in 2016
Forget cupcakes and cocktails, our favourite food and drink combination right now is macaroons and prosecco.
After news of a new gin bar opening in Great Western Arcade, we can reveal the shopping centre will soon be home to a new French macaroon shop and prosecco bar.
Birmingham social enterprise company Miss Macaroon, which has established itself as a firm favourite online selling high end French delicacies to the likes of fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, has chosen Birmingham to open its first shop – where prosecco is also on the menu!
Rosie Ginday, who trained as a high-end pastry chef at University College Birmingham and went on to work for Michelin starred chef Glynn Purnell set up Miss Macaroon in 2011. The brand reinvests its profits to help young unemployed care leavers, offenders and ex-offenders into training and employment through the hand-baking and sale of French gluten free macaroons.
The shop is due to open in the arcade at the end of October. Macaroon flavours on offer include strawberries and cream, raspberry, pistachio, salted caramel and lemon.
All of the profits from the macaroons produced are invested in trainee patisserie chefs aged between 16 and 25 from deprived wards of Birmingham and the West Midlands who are supported by a team of professional chefs.
