At my apprenticeship in 2017 my boss bullied me. I went to my doctor and had counselling. Despite passing the apprenticeship, I struggled to get a job, which continued to lower my self esteem. On the MacsMAD course I improved my CV writing and coping with stress and negative experiences. I learnt new skills in the kitchen, which really improved my confidence and self esteem.
Leah, 27
To support myself I committed criminal acts and ended up in prison. I hated doing it and now it’s easier for employers to reject me. After the MacsMAD course I have been able to talk, make better decisions, change my CV and approach interviews to help me be more successful in the future.

I found it really hard to make friends at school and leave the house. I cut down my food and self harmed. I didn’t want to live. On the MacsMAD Programme I spoke to the mental health advisor. She suggested I speak to my doctor and get professional help. I found it hard to take the first step, but I am now seeing a therapist.

I had anxiety, depression and was bullied. I felt like I wasn’t good enough. The MacsMAD course completely changed my view of myself, helped me to deal with my anger and communicate how I’m feeling.
